I think including the video experiment adds a lot of credibility to your position. It’s difficult to argue with such stark evidence.

For example, the rules to create very beautiful and complex flocking behavior consist of 1) keep to the center, 2) don’t collide with anyone else, and 3) fly in the same direction as the group. I think, similarly, very complex human behavior can often be understood using very simple rules.

I’ve been trying to understand the rules by which gender is expressed. While I think there is much overlap in traits between the sexes, I think that the degree one feels agency is one important rule to understand gender. In addition, I think that men want to be of value to women, children, and society, and women what to be valued.

What this means is both men and women view women as having very low agency, and therefore little control or responsibility over events, and men having very high agency, and therefore lots of control and responsibility over events. Because men also want to be of value, they will act to help women, children, and the society. Because women want to be valued, they willingly accept resources and help without the guilt men would feel. Taken to the extreme, this desire to be valued can become an attitude of entitlement, which seems to blind many women of their privilege.

Society expects men to use their agency for the greater good. When a man is being beaten by a woman, people generally believe he has not used his agency for her greater good, and they mock him. This impulse seems to be deeply rooted in our DNA.

A question I’ve been contemplating recently is why so many women feel hatred toward men and boys. I understand indifference because on the resource scarce Savanna, our male ancestors took on the responsibility of defending the group’s women, children, and resources from other groups, and women took on the responsibility of raising the young. The biological legacy is men work for the betterment of women, children, and society, and women don’t have a similar impulse to provide for or protect men. These impulses are expressed in feminism and chivalry, which are different manifestations of the same impulse.

However, I don’t understand the hatred so many women have of men and boys. I don’t see a reverse in men. What I mean by this is a meme that states 90% of all boys should be castrated at the age of 10 will get hundreds of thousands if not millions of likes by women. What is the origin of this hatred?
